HEAVYMECH is a general engineering company which began at its present Northfield site in 1968. Its primary function was, and still remains, to offer a high class machining service to general industry, with a continuing commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
A wide and varied range of machining capacity gives HEAVYMECH a broad capability for all types of workpieces, namely, casting, fabrication, forging, plate and bar stock.
The main machine tool types include turning large & small, horizontal and vertical boring, radial drilling, milling, slotting, cylindrical and slideway grinding and honing – these service medium to large size workpieces. General purpose machine tools include lathes, mills, drills, hone, slotting, internal/external grinding, tool and cutter and surface grinding.
Re-grinding and re-furbishment of machine tool bedways and slideways are speciality services offered. A welding service includes welding for fabricating and repair work. Additional operations include shrink fitting, pressing, refurbishing of shaft journals by metal spraying, overhauling hydraulic rams, hydrostatic testing, general fitting and assembling work.
